No contracts. In writing this time.
The most viral complaint about salon software is the contract you can't get out of. So here is ours, in plain English, with nothing buried.
These are the terms for using Salonomy — the salon software for UK hair & beauty businesses. We have written them to be read. Where a clause matters to your money or your freedom to leave, we say it once, plainly, and we do not contradict it elsewhere.
No contract, ever
Your subscription is monthly rolling. There is no minimum term, no fixed-term tie-in, and no notice period. A discount or promotion never quietly converts into a contract — if we ever offer a discounted term, you will be told in those exact words before you agree, and you can still leave when the discount ends.
Cancelling — one click, in the app
You cancel from your account settings in one click. No phone call, no “retention specialist”, no email you have to send 30 days in advance, no form to download. When you cancel:
- Your plan stays active until the end of the month you have already paid for — we do not cut you off mid-period.
- You can export your data — clients, appointments, history — for 30 days afterwards. Concierge help to move off is free, just like moving on.
- We do not charge a cancellation, offboarding or “data release” fee.
Itemised invoices
Every invoice itemises exactly what you are paying for: your plan, the number of chairs, and any SMS or WhatsApp segments used over your included allowance — each at the published rate. Nothing is bundled into a vague line you cannot question. The price you see on our pricing page is the price on your invoice.
The comms cap — we pause, never auto-spend
SMS and WhatsApp cost real money to send. We will never spend that money on your behalf without your say-so.
Email and push notifications are unlimited and free. SMS and WhatsApp are included up to a pooled allowance (proposed at 250 messages per chair each month), and smart routing always prefers the free channels first. You set a cap. When you reach it, Salonomy pauses paid messaging and switches to free channels, or asks you first, or tops up — whichever you chose. The default is to pause and ask.
We do not silently keep sending paid messages and bill you for the surprise. If you do go over a cap you have explicitly raised, overage SMS is billed at the published rate (8p a segment at time of writing), itemised on your next invoice.
Payment processing — the costs, published
If you take card payments through Salonomy (powered by Stripe Connect), we publish the full composition of what you pay — we do not hide a margin inside a single percentage:
- In person: 1.9% + 5p per transaction.
- Online: 2.5% + 5p per transaction.
- Of that, interchange and card-scheme fees cost us roughly 1.2%; our transparent margin is roughly 0.7%. We show the split so you can check our maths.
Payouts settle to your connected account. We do not take a per-booking commission on your clients. Card rates can change if the underlying scheme fees change; when they do, we will tell you what changed and why, with the same published breakdown.
No lock-in, no quiet price creep
Because there is no contract, you are never locked in — and because of that, we have to earn your business every month. We will not raise your price without telling you clearly, in advance, in-app and by email, with the new figure stated plainly. There is no automatic annual uplift buried in these terms, no “RPI + a bit” escalator, and no feature you rely on being moved behind a higher tier without notice. If a price change does not suit you, cancel in one click before it takes effect.
Using Salonomy fairly
In return, we ask the obvious: use Salonomy lawfully, only send client comms to people who expect to hear from you, keep your login secure, and do not attempt to break, scrape or resell the service. You are responsible for the data your business puts into Salonomy and for having a lawful basis to process it — our role and yours are set out in the Data Processing Agreement and Privacy notice.
The service, availability and support
We work hard to keep Salonomy fast and available, and we publish our roadmap, changelog and status openly. We provide the service with reasonable skill and care, but no software is guaranteed error-free or available without interruption. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we will tell you in-app and by email before the change takes effect, and update the date at the top. As ever: if a change does not suit you, you can cancel in one click, with no penalty.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
Questions about your bill or these terms? support@salonomy.com. A real person answers — that is part of the deal too.
